A wonderful thing it is to return home... And yet to be greeted by sadness. On this coming Thursday, the day I get to Lubbock, I am singing in a memorial service to honor the life of friend and husband to my choir director, Pete Zetterstrom. Such a horrible loss. Leaving behind a 8 year old and a 4 year old, and a loving wife, Pete passed last week. I have been supremely touched and left to consider all about my family, friends, and those others around me. How precious life is when we are forced to recognize its brevity (especially when young friends die). I have no riches to contribute all I have is my heart and my voice. Singing Brahms' Requiem at the service will be an honor. It is a piece fitting of his life.

May God watch over his family and may he dwell in the house of the Lord forevermore.

Amen.
